The Jungle Farmhouse vacation rental is located in the heart of the Puna District on the east side of Hawai'i Island and just minutes away from Kehena Black Sand Beach, and Volcanoes National Park is just 45 minutes away. And we are just minutes (about a mile) to Historic Pahoa Village One of the few remaining plantation period towns in Hawai'i, Pahoa is known for it's eclectic shops, wooden sidewalks, book stores, farmers markets and galleries. It also has a natural food store, drug store, bakery, kava bar, coffee shop, post office, fish market, public pool, grocery store and great restaurants. We believe we have the best Italian, Thai and Fresh Island Style places to eat on the island! |
“wonderful getaway with wonderful host”
****** Reviewed February 18, 2016 by Loretta M, Helena, Montana "We really appreciated the quietness of the Jungle Farmhouse. It is located in a quiet neighborhood with easy access to all we needed. The frogs become a white noise throughout the night. Daniel gave us great suggestions about the activities in the area. His suggestions about visiting the tide pools early in the day was spot on. They are a really great place to snorkel. We loved the tangerines right from the tree and the fresh eggs." |

A BEAUTIFUL 2.5 ACRE JUNGLE FARM Here, the sun and the rain do all the work and provide us with fresh tropical fruit from the forest. Ferdinand and Franz, our two baby goats were born in November 2013. Their mom, Dalilah and aunty Rosebud, are Dwarf Nubian Nigerian goats who love to be pet. Our free range chickens and ducks provide us with fresh eggs too! And Wilbur and Wilma, our miniature pigs love being petted and hand fed. We also have two dogs, Doobie and Olive and two cats, Willow and William. When available, we will supply your kitchen with fresh fruit and eggs! |

Outside your living room door... ...lies a two acre jungle sanctuary, home to native birds, exotic plants and towering trees. Here, the hidden realms of nature are revealed, creating a great place to meditate and listen to the forest. With three bedrooms and a big living room and porch, it's perfect for a romantic holiday or family retreat. Growing Food in the Jungle Your Hosts, Danny and Matthew, who also own and operate the Hilo Bay Hale Bed and Breakfast in Hilo, opened the Jungle Farmhouse vacation rental in Sept. 2011 and live part time in a cottage next to the Farmhouse. The organic farm provides food for the Bed and Breakfast in Hilo and Guests at the Jungle Farmhouse. The gardening includes herbs, greens, beans, peppers and tomato, squash and pumpkin. They are also growing a variety of bananas, papaya, citrus, taro, coffee, ulu (breadfruit), jackfruit, avocado and passion fruit under the forest canopy utilizing the natural surroundings for shade and nutrients, a style that blends Permaculture and Biodynamic Farming techniques. |
